No Internet Connection!!!

Haven't been updating for a long time! This is cos ever since we moved to VCU, we haven't had any Internet connection!! OMG! I feel so disconnected from the rest of the world! I'm now at an Ice-cream place called Coldstone Creamery, eating ice-cream and surfing the net at the same time. The ice-cream here is so yummy and yet sinful at the same time! More picture updates the next time I've Internet!!

I'm a lifeguard now!

After 4 days of torture - swimming in ice cold water that's like on average of 18 degree celcius, the coldest being 12deg on the last day, I finally passed the deep water lifeguard test and am a deep water lifeguard now!! At first I was very happy because I can earn more - $8.75 an hour. But after learning that we will have lesser working hours than the ride operators as the water rides close earlier and are more prone to weather conditions, and hence we may earn the same or lesser than the ride operators, I felt a little sad. I really want to earn as much as I can to cover some of the cost back :(. And it doesn't help when Bub keeps saying we should do things as a group. And not pia work by ourselves :(((. So just hope I can find a second job soon after we move to VCU on Monday!

Road trips!!

Remember the last time I said I bought some things from Pemberton? Here's the pictures!

At work

My workplace

After a day of orientation and training, we had 2 days break, and so we decided to go on a roadtrip!!

Day 1 of our roadtrip:

As all the lifeguards have 2 days off. We decided to travel to some place a distance a way from where we stay. However, buses don't operate on Sundays, and cab fares are freaking expensive, we decided eventually after much deliberation to rent a car - a 12-seater in fact!

After much trouble - some rentals don't open; some are really 'niao' and only allow 25 year old and above with credit/debit card to rent a 12-seater, we finally managed to get a car (Phew~). As it was already quite late, we deicded to go to some place nearer- Williamsburg - where we can shop at their premier outlet and look at their historical sites.

After an hour plus of driving and some U-turns, we finally reached Williamsburg. The funny thing was - we went to the wrong shopping mall with nothing much to see. And we were comforting ourselves that we've come so far, and so should spend more time walking around it. After which, we decided to head down to the historical site of Richmond to take a look at them. Not even halfway there, we pass by the Chelsea Premier Outlet at Williamsburg and we immediately turned in to stop there. By then, we only had an hour left! So in the end, we didn't have any time for the historical sites which was a little disappointing.

Conclusion of the daytrip: I bought shades and a very nice smelling raspberry body lotion for myself - it smells like one of the sweets that we can find in SG - the pink and square one with wrapper.

I also bought 2 fossil watches - one for my sis and one for my father. My brother has a new Adidas watch too! Hope they like it!

2nd day of our roadtrip:

The roadtrip gang
First we made our way to the bank of America to start a bank account.

Next, we headed for a 3-hour road trip to Leesburg to another Chelsea Premier Outlet!! There were Guess, Levis, CK, Nine West and so many more other branded US stores selling their stuffs at dirt cheap prices! Levis jeans cost only 60 odd Sing Dollars or so and my CK jeans less than SGD$40 after all the discounts!!

Interesting vending machine found in the toilet

By the time we finished shopping 3 hours later, we still have a lot of shops not visited! But it was already 8.30pm so we had to head back another 3 hours ride for the hotel for we have lifeguard training the next day. The road back was practically dark with reflectors as the only lights around. It was quite scary to go back! We missed a few turns too! But luckily, we found our way eventually and made it back safely.

More Updates from my Goddess from US

Day 2 in US was super tiring. After a wierd breakfast - look at the black round thing - that's a chocolate donut!

After which we waited for 20 min to take a bus to a shopping area called Pembeton. We were so worried that we have missed our bus as it comes only once every hour and their last service was at 11+ cos they need to stop for lunch break. Anyways, we almost cross the road and missed the bus when we thought we would have missed it. Luckily for one of the travel party mates who was tall and had good eyesight to spot it from afar.

The female shopping khakis

We thought once we stop at the bus stop, we'd reach the shopping mall, something that looks like at least Coronation Plaza. Boy was I so wrong, we walked and walked and walked and couldn't find it. And when we finally found it, it was actually the size and shape of expo - a one level building with a few shop tenants.

Went Babies R" Us to buy something for my nephew. (Too tired to take and upload the picts now. Will do so in my next posting).

After which, lunch break at Wendy's! Heard that it's one of the cheapest fast food restaurant around, and indeed it is with a delux meal at USD2.99.

We were disappointed that we can't get into Cosco Wholesale cos it was only for members. So we were excited that we came across Food Lion. Heard from my friend that it's the lowest cost supermarket around - an equivalent of Sheng Shiong. We bought a few can food like corns, spinach and beans to go with our cup noodles. Saw a few shops that had really nice and cheap stuffs like Nine West shoes at USD39 which is SGD60!! I was so tempted to buy but I figured out I'd wait till I get to the premier outlet, and also get my pay first before I start spending.

And we walked and walked and walked in order to get to the next "shopping mall".

And we found a cinema!

After which we walked and walked and walked again to get back to the hotel. I swear the states is so big, no one is as crazy as us to walk a total of 6km! Met my 3 other CS friends whom just arrived and so we went out for dinner together with one of their aunts. Luckily for me, I learnt a lot from the aunt on what to look out for and do in US.

Day 3 and work has begun. Okay, we had orientation which took place from 10am to 5.30pm. Gosh, there were so much forms to fill in, drugs test to take and documents to make. We've got uniforms too! Will post out pictures of the park and the uniform the next time.

And surprisingly, after we reached back the hotel at 6pm, the sky was still very bright and si U decided to run round the carpark - my first step to staying fit while still in US!! Though it was harder to perspire, the air was pretty thin and so harder to breathe.

Super sleepy now, can't wait to go sleep but still have to wait for my lazy brother to wake up so I can chat with my family on Skype. Don't know what time he'll wake up and how much longer I can 'dong'.

I'm leaving on a jet plane! (for a 20-hour journey)

My Goddess has left! I miss her so much!! Here's her adventure for the day:

After weeks of preparation, I'm finally on my way to the airport. Flight is at 2.40pm but we've to check in 2 hours earlier so we reached the airport at 12.30pm.

The day we set off is the day that the 100ml liquids on board is implemented. As such, to save money, we didn't buy ourselves any drinks, but drink from the different water coolers found around the airport.

Once on board, we were served snacks - peanuts. Unfortunately, it's too hard for my tightened teeth (told my orthodontist I'll be away from 3 months so he tightened like mad for me!), so luckily for me, I brought along left over food from hall.

The packet was inflated like mad due to the pressure difference!

Luckily for us, there was inflight entertainment on the 4-hours plus flight. So I watched "Stomp the Yard".

And bub then was inspired by them and did the look and the dance...

Dinner on flight

Feeling bored on flight, we played with the camera...

And finally, we reached Taipei Airport for our 1st transit which we had to wait for about 4 hours.

We then boarded another China Airlines flight heading for Los Angeles. It was a crazily long flight that took 12 hours. Couldn't really sleep at all. So watched "Happily N'ever After", "Music and Lyrics" and half of "Norbit".

Had our delicious dinner and breakfast, and a view of US

And finally, we reached U.S!!

But that's not all, we have to wait for another 4 hour transit at the L.A. airport to transit to Atlanta.

Bub decided to DOTA during the wait.

After another 4++ hours, we reached Atlanta airport, waited for another 1 hour for our other hour transit to Richmond.

My 1st encounter with Bath and Body Works! So exciting!!!

The newspaper box.

And last but not least, we shared a mini bus with a few other people to the hotel - Quality Inn. By then, it was already 12 midnight in Singapore.

Bub and I were hungry, so we wanted to head out with his roomies and friends to town. We bathed and headed out (Haven't bathed for one day!!) Unfortunately, we almost board the wrong bus and wasted USD 1.75 (SGD3 or so). Then we searched around for food but there were like so ex, at least USD 12 per person. Don't want to waste money, we went to the supermarkter nearby called 'Big Lot' to buy the only type of cup noodles availabe (or should I say bowl noodle). It was quite nice and from 'Nissin' somemore!! We had baked beans and canned sardines to go along, and it was quite a unique meal!

Due to jetlag, we slept for a few hours from 5 to 11pm (US time). And now we are awake, me blogging and bub playing DOTA besides me (thanks to Jiali's clever suggestion to bring an extension plug here).

Alrighty, that's my adventure for today, or two days in fact. Better bathe and get to sleep! It's 1.15am here already!!

US Trip update

I'm now at the Taiwan Taipei airport waiting for my transit. It's going to be a 4 hours wait for a 12-hours flight. Hope I can survive this! Pics will be uploaded later!

*Post contributed by Winnie's Goddess.

All my bags aren't pack, I'm not ready to go...

My Goddess is leaving for U.S. in 11 hours time. I am so going to miss her. She keeps telling me to not forget her. And I know that she is already starting to miss her family - her pa, ma and da jie... Said though she's an adult already, she still feels like a little child - so uncertain of venturing out on her own...

*I'm not a girl
Not yet a woman
All I need is time
A moment that is mine
While I'm in between
I'm not a girl*

Meanwhile, keep a lookout for this spot for she'll give us the latest updates on her trip whenever she has the time and can find free internet connection!

Body Fats

My Goddess went to measure her body fats yesterday. 18.7% of her is filled with fats.

So let's see, a breakdown of it will be:-

15% at her thighs,
3% at her butt,
and 0.7% at her chest.
