One weekend before my Goddess' wedding was a darn packed weekend. It's after all the last weekend before the wedding!
First on Sat, my Goddess and the Horny Devil went for facial in the afternoon. This was followed by my Goddess' bachelorette party @ Raffles Town Club.
The girls booked a room.

All the wise words of marriage advice |
Taboo |
Everyone was super exhausted by like 12 midnight?
Think we are all Cinderellas |
The secretary for the gate-crash games |
And the next morning, all of them looked puffy and shagged.
I love the girls~ |
Lover was testing out the blink detection on
my Goddess' cam LOL |
After which, my Goddess rushed home in the morning at 10am to prepare for 过大礼, a Chinese tradition to officially ask for the bride's hands.
Gifts were meant to be exchanged and dowry prepared during this time.
My Goddess' 嫁妆 |
Gifts for the groom - a wallet, a pair of pants, a belt,
two bottles of orange juice and some mandarin oranges |
My Goddess' gold jewellery from her mom |
And the groom to be has arrived! |
Look at how huge the basket was |
The gifts and goodies, which includes cakes, dragon & phoenix candles, gold jewellery, canned pig trotters, Martell and mandarin oranges.
And the deal is sealed! |

The Horny Devil receiving his gifts |

Happy & waiting to get married |
Pretty cakes |
I also want a piece of the cake please? |
After which it was time to 安床, a tradition that requires the putting of new bedsheet sets for the couple's bed, and getting a boy to roll on the bed. This supposedly blesses the couple to have good fortune and will give birth to a baby boy soon!
The boy have to first 'break' the red paper wrapping the spittoon to get the red packet and sweets inside the spittoon. By right he's also supposed to pee in that spittoon but (1) he would be to shy to do that and (2) no one's going to wash it man!
The star is here! |
Me witnessing all the actions |
Jayden, my Goddess' nephew was supposed to roll on the bed. But he was simply too shy and clueless. So he just laid there like a log.
There were yummy lotus seeds, longans, red dates,
rock sugar candy and peanut candy - all the sweet stuff for
a sweet marriage |
And finally all the traditions are accomplished! |
Last step - placing of the 双喜wordings on
the door and mirrors to ward off evil |
The nicely made Serta bed with glaring red
silk sheets |
双喜lamps that replaced candles/oil lamps
in the olden days to be lit the whole day
on the day the couples get wedded |
Super shagged |
And because the newly made bed is not supposed to be slept on until the wedding night, and my Goddess original bed was shifted away to make way for their new bed, she had to sleep on a narrow strip of walkway in her room!
