The Horny Devil's 30th Bird-day

The Horny Devil recently celebrated his 30th birthday. 30 was a big thing to them as it is the big 3-0, whereby you are supposed to hit certain milestones as a full-grown adult already.

The Horny Devil had big expectations for my Goddess, especially after he planned a surprise V-day dinner for her. Furthermore, he has the perception that my Goddess would be so busy with her own things that she would do a lousy celebration for him.

Stress and wanting to do a good and memorable birthday celebration for him, she thought of letting him spend his big day to people who matter to him most - herself (of course!), his family and his friends.

Thanks to their tidy and comprehensive guest list, she got down the numbers of his friends and contacted them. She also went around searching for value-for-money hotels that fulfill the criteria:

1. Doesn't cost a bomb
2. Look luxurious and not cheapskate
3. Have a roof-top dining area that opens to late

Through her research, she realised there are so many cool boutique hotels in Singapore! Maybe they should start doing staycations more often to boost the Singapore economy!

Anyway, here's a recap of what happened over the weekend.

First, my Goddess told the Horny Devil that they are going out for a nice dinner on Sat night to celebrate his birthday.

And so, she borrowed her family's car and went to check in at the hotel first.

The hotel was a sight on the outside - traditional yet modern at the same time.

The inside was even more luxurious. There were a lot of plush, velvet and big chairs, chandelier lights and the use of red and black colour to portray the luxuriousness of the hotel.

The walk to their room was almost like a maze. She has to walk through a long stretch of corridor before she reaches the lift to take up to their room on the third floor.

The room itself was very simple and clean. Quite different from the lobby look in fact.

Guess she just doesn't have the money to book the suites, which look otherwise really luxurious!

After leaving their one luggage in the room, she went to his office to pick him up.

Side track: This time round, for my Goddess' makeup and hair, she was inspired by the bed head look. Bed head literally means the hair you get when you get out of bed.

And no, I don't mean this.

It's a little rustle and tousle in an otherwise immaculate hairdo like this.

Sexy right? According to Glamour.com, bed head hair is voted the most appealing to guys. Wonder if that's true.

This hairstyle is actually not easy to create. Glamour says use sea salt spray. But my Goddess doesn't have such a product. And so she tried the other method: First you need to have semi-damp hair, which you then put on curling mousse, in this case my Goddess used Liese Wave-up Foam 03, to scrunch up the hair. Then blow dry your hair completely. Following which, she used Liese Designing Jelly to scrunch up the hair even more. You would realise the hair is like sticky with all the mousse and jelly right? Finally, spray some dry shampoo over the head - that will definitely make the hair look matte and normal. And this dry shampoo my Goddess has, cos Twin bought it for her for her birthday!!

As for the makeup, she tried to imitate Pat McGrath's winged-out liner that did at the latest Anna Sui show. She was the MUA that did The Girl with the Dragon's Tattoo makeup, by the way.

But of course, my Goddess opted out of the little dot below the eyes, and chose to smudge her coloured eyeliner wing (created with a dark eyeshadow) so that it becomes more versatile and wearable.

And so here's the look:

Anyway, back to the subject of the Horny Devil's wedding.

Once they reached the parking lot (Red Dot Museum - cos that's where you can get per entry parking at $3.30 after 6pm on Sat and the whole of Sunday!), she blinded him with a tie.

If the bright pink tie looks vaguely familiar, it's the same tie used by his 'brothers' aka 兄弟 for their wedding!

The Horny Devil being cheeky and wants to peep through the tie
And after being properly blindfolded, he was led to the hotel, just like the orientation camps. And he was even made to take pictures along the way!

Initially the Horny Devil guessed that she will be bringing him to eat with his group of friends. And he kinda guessed that they were at a hotel from the narrow corridor. Luckily the spa-like scent of the hotel, trickling of the water at the lobby and most importantly, the strange box at the door made him confused a little.

To further take him off his guard, she brought him to the room first, and he really thought that it's the two of them only to celebrate his birthday that night.

Mission 1 accomplished!

Happy with Surprise #1
And the hotel was even nice enough to give us a complimentary slice of cake as they knew that the room was booked to celebrate his birthday.

Moral of the story: let hotels and restaurants know the reason for your booking so that you can enjoy additional perks!

Then it was off to our dinner place!

And he ain't got the slightest ideas that all his friends are waiting for him at the restaurant!
Dinner was at the rooftop restaurant of Scarlet Hotel - Breeze Restaurant. The tentages reminded my Goddess of Sex and the City Movie at the dessert.

Super surprised with Surprise #2

30 candles for the old uncle

Still feeling shock from the surprise
The cake is Oreo Cheesecake from Rive Gauche Patisserie, and it's really yummy! The texture is light and not heavy at all! I swear I can eat the whole cake by myself!

The food, unfortunately, though quite unique, is on the pricier side. The starters platter for 2 costs $38++!

After sending their friends off, they decided to go 7-11 - she to buy some panadol for her flu and him some snacks.

There were even big luxurious chairs outside the hotel!

Stopping for an ice-cream treat

A picture with the pretty chandeliers
There was even a cute poodle at the lobby area!

I'm jealous!

Then it was back to their room for more dessert (for him) and some cup noodles for her.

The next morning, they woke up (not quite) bright and early to head to their jacuzzi pool - so they can fully make their money's worth!

The mini jacuzzi pool

Checking the temperature of the pool

Too cold to enter!
And they refused to get in.

Trying to act macho

While my Goddess sat by the side to take pictures

Coming to peace with himself as he submerges in the cold pool

While she wades her feet
The hotel have a nice scenery of the Chinatown area at some angles.

After their failed attempt with the jacuzzi pool, they headed back to pack their stuffs. While he was bathing, she prepared his 3rd surprise.

Cute wrapping box!

Elated with his new work bag!
Upon leaving their room, they realised what the box outside the door is meant for!

And sadly, it was time to checkout.

And then, it was Maxwell market (just next to the hotel) for some sumptuous brunch!

This was the first time they have seen a raw fish porridge - those fish that you use for Lou Hei.

And she had the normal pork porridge.

There was this stall which they sat beside with an extremely long queue. Too bad they don't have the patience to queue and try the ever-famous raw fish porridge there.

Then it was pampering time when the two went for a good facial session. This was followed by tea break at Ipoh Coffee house.

Finally, the Horny Devil's big day ended off with a good dinner celebration with his family.

And cake-cutting with his family's favourite strawberry cake from Rive Gauche, which again had raving reviews from the family members as the strawberries were fresh and the cake soft and spongy.

Happy bird-day Horny Devil - from Winnie, the princess and her almight Goddess - hope you've had a good time with the surprises that my Goddess has prepared for you!

wandered onto Woof's blog to read about storeroom racks and got distracted into reading this immensely entertaining staycation story. Really love your family togetherness.
Cheers

Though very late in my reply (shows how often I don't check my emails), I would like to say thank you for your kind words. Wish I have time to blog more though.. Guess I've since moved on to microblogging on my Instagram account @msbibi if you would like to stay connected on how my poor dog has sadly passed away, and how things have changed since this very last post.
