Been wanting to go on a vacation during my maternity leave (so I don't have to take further leaves) before I return to the workforce again.
But hubs and I have discussed (and argued) over it, and we have decided that we are not ready to take the risk of venturing to a foreign land with too many unknowns in case (touch wood) something happens, so eventually we settled on a weekend staycation.
And so I chose the last weekend before I got back to work, and at a location that is far from the hustle and bustle of the city but somewhere tranquil and relaxing, so at least I don't feel so much that I'm still in Singapore. Sentosa eventually became the choice, and after some price comparison and research, we settled on The Singapore Resort and Spa Sentosa.
The place was exactly how it looked like on the website (you know how some websites are so misleading) - green, open, peaceful and serene. There are many peacocks roaming around too to add to the outdoor nature ambience.

The room itself was very spacious, especially the bathroom, something rare for the hotels these days.
Coincidentally on the Saturday of the staycation, it was the office's Family Day as well. After check in, we headed straight to the Wavehouse to introduce Julius to my colleagues.

To give ourselves a more holiday feel, we got ourselves an expensive but refreshing coconut ice cream to eat along the way |

Halfway through the Family Day event, we left early to bring Julius to swim. It was his first time and he doesn't seem to have a clue what's going on until we submerged his head into the water.

Thereafter it was time to settle Julius to bed. While he slept, the hubs encouraged me to go for a massage session to pamper myself for taking are of Ju during this 4 months.

And so massage I went. It was quite a worth it deal - for a $180++ one-hour massage, I could enjoy their pool and spa facilities which includes a whirlpool, mud pool, onsen hot and cold dip and steam bath. And they were pretty flexible - I went to the massage late at night and so the complimentary facilities were closed. The staff allowed me to come back again to use the facilities the next morning.

And after I finished my massage, we ordered room service for dinner so that Julius will not be disturbed from his sleep.
The next morning we had a leisurely 2-hour breakfast at the cafe. The spread of food was quite good and yummy.

After breakfast we headed back to the hotel to rest before giving Julius his morning bath and noon nap. Life now with a kid is so different - we can't do things together anymore as a couple at the hotel - one has to stay back to look after the kiddo while the other goes to use the facilities. And so we took turns, the hubs went to swim first, followed by me using the spa facilities.

After a good swim and spa session, it was time to check out and call it a day for our staycation. Staycation used to be boring for us as a couple because time passes by so slowly and there's only so much facilities we can enjoy in the hotel. But things are so different with a baby around - you spend additional time feeding and caring for the baby, and each person has to take turn to use the facilities, that's double the time spent.
We'll definitely consider more staycation options, especially in Sentosa when Julius gets older, as it is a one-stop destination that the family can enjoy for a day.
