Beauty Products Review - Good Skin Labs, Vaseline & The Body Shop

A month back, my Goddess was in the mood of making her skin flawless and perfect. Probably it's the time of the year where you want to make yourself look and feel your best.

And so, she went shopping for samples from The Sample Store. Think the popularity of the store has kinda of died down a little. The samples there were like for old products and mainly Korean drugstore BB cream.

To settle my Goddess' cravings, she still ordered some samples online.

The parcel has arrived...very promptly

The items ordered

My Goddess will be trying and reviewing the products received over time. And so first up, the Good Skin Labs Smooth-365 Intensive Clarity-Smoothing Peptide Serum.

Believe it or not, my Goddess hasn't got any proper serum products in her toiletries list. All she has are pre-serums which over the past few years, she's been using them as serums. And so she thought it was time for her to get a proper serum. And since age is catching up on her, she thought she would need one that will fill lines and slow down the signs of ageing.

Good Skin Labs comes from New York, so she though this should be a reputable brand to try. The serum is white, and after applying on the skin, it leaves a matte and very smooth and velvety finish that is very nice to touch! It was definitely a feel-good product after use!

The product contains Optical Diffussers and Flamenco Blue Pearls and soft focus silicas called Monoveil. This ingredient blurs the fine lines and give a smooth finishing after use. And this same ingredient is also the cause of pore clogging for people who are allergic to silicone-based product like my Goddess.

And so, instead of looking more radiant and clear, just 3 days after use, my Goddess' pores started to clog and her skin became more dull :(

Initially, my Goddess even ordered 2 samples to try so that she can test it out for a longer period of time and ascertain the effectiveness of the product. But after 3 days and she's still at her first sample, she stopped using the product completely. Luckily for her, her skin cleared up again a few days later.

Next up, Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. There have been so many positive reviews on the web and YouTube. It promises - longer, thicker lashes amongst many other uses.

My Goddess decided to give it a try too. Cost of the product was also cheap - less than $6 found at any Guardian/Watsons stores.

Initially, my Goddess only remembered the brand Vaseline, and she went to buy their normal moisturizers! After purchase, she was doubting her purchase and went to Google further only to find out she has bought the wrong product. Thankfully Guardian allowed for exchange of products, otherwise she would have wasted money on more moisturizers.

This was the before shots - noticed the red spots on her? Yes, that's the result of the Good Skin Labs serum which clogged her pores.

Every night, my Goddess would spread a bit of the jelly on her lashes and lash lines. After about 1 month of use...

The results isn't very obvious from pictures. But personally, my Goddess did feel very slight improvements on her lashes. Maybe it's just a self-delusion, but they seem thicker than before. The effect was more obvious when she puts on her mascara. The lower lashes seems more obvious than before.

Using pictures to justify my point - the left pic was taken before using Vaseline and the right, after. Since both are wedding occasions, my Goddess used her usual 2 coats of mascara on her lashes. Notice how the right pic has black lashes sticking out more obviously?

And the last review is on The Body Shop Vitamin C Duo Eye Cream. All along, my Goddess has been using Bio-essence Gold Foil eye cream recommended by her ex-colleague. After 2 years of use, she noticed that the millea seads, otherwise known as oil seeds is getting bigger! These seeds are not planted into the skin like normal plant seeds. They are the results of using too oily products on the skin and the skin clogs up and develop small seed-like bumps.

The bumps were getting bigger that even her facialist was commenting on it! The obvious seeds made my Goddess really miserable and she even considered going to the painful method of lasering it off.

In the meanwhile, she needed to stop using her current eye product to further aggravate the problem. And so she decided to turn to The Body Shop since it promises that it uses only natural products and the chances of any side effects or allergy should be minimised.

Furthermore, Vitamin C is known to clear and brighten skin. This product also has puffiness reducing properties - suitable to target my Goddess' extra large eye bags!

The eye stick has 2 sides. First you roll on the liquid around your eyes. My Goddess leaves her eyecream in her room which is airconditioned whenver she's in the room. So the metal ball is always very cooling and soothing when rolled on - good to reduce puffiness. When she shifts to her own place, she will consider leaving this in the fridge.

And the second step is to apply the eye cream.

One thing not good about this product is this is only a 6ml stick - so seems like the eyecream will be used up very fast. And also, the packaging is opaque - so you can't tell for sure if you are finishing up this stick and needs to purchase another one when it's used up.

But other than that, my Goddess felt that the effect was good. A few days after using, she could see that her eye bag size has reduced, her dark eye rings less black, and fine lines less obvious, and miraculously, one of her oil seeds disappear, and the other appear smaller. The pictures taken above to show the effects of Vaseline can also be proof of this eye stick. Notice that my right eye bag used to have big white dot/patch? Now it's reduced to a small white dot. Even the red dot on the other eye is gone.
