Ineffective Marketing Collateral

My Goddess walked past Funan this afternoon and saw a good deal from Manhattan Fish & Chips - $3.99 for their Fish & Chips! Excited, she took a flyer to find out more.

She flipped the flyers around for the longest time and couldn't find the location!

Writing the location down is the most fundamental basic of marketing/communications 101. That is after all the objective of marketing efforts – to drive traffic to your shop, aka ‘call to action’ in marketing terms.

Otherwise, you will be wasting time and money on the design, printing and engaging of the flyer distributors.
What was prominently featured was their fb and website address. Like how many people will be bothered to log on to fb/internet to check out on their own? Probably only those ‘yan peng’ (always looking for cheap deals). The rest I supposed will be like my Goddess, look for somewhere else to eat, and throw the flyer away.

You only have that few seconds to grab a consumers’ attention. Besides a great promo and artwork, you need to have a good communications message too.

I like iLight!

My Goddess and the Horny Devil visited the iLight @ Marina Bay last weekend. Don't be mistaken, iLight has nothing to do with iPad, iPhone or Apple. It's simply an art display using lights.

It has been a long time since the two of them visited an art exhibition. Previously when the Horny Devil was less tied up with his work, i.e. no working every weekend/ studying for his masters, they will go for events like Night Fest, Singapore Bienale etc.

So here they are that day, with my Goddess' family. First it was dinner at Singapore Flyer.

This is a quaint food court done up to the olden days of the 70s. My Goddess didn't even know such a chic place exist until her sis asked them to meet there for dinner.

See how nicely the place is dressed up!

More Wedding Sites to Recommend!

I know my Goddess' wedding is long over. It's almost coming one year!! However, she has yet to delete her blog subscriptions to those inspirational wedding sites, and don't think she will ever delete them as they are all so pretty to look at!

My Goddess recently came across another interesting blog while she was surfing around for reno inspirations. Ringology is the blog name - interesting, simple design with loads of oh-ahh pictures! She has dedicated some posts to wedding ideas too. Totally love one of her recommended site - style me pretty.

They've got everything you need inspirations for - hair (loving every single style), make-up, colours, bridesmaid dresses, decor, photography and even how to DIY your stuffs! If you don't believe it, see the mag for yourself!

New Glasses

My Goddess has long wanted to change her specs since she has been having this pair for the longest time - as long as she has been with the Horny Devil or even longer! However each time she would remind herself that she hardly wears them out, her old pair is still working, why waste the money.

And the opportunity finally came one morning, when she woke up to find this! She has the habit of placing her specs on their queen-sized bed at night before she sleeps and has been doing so for the past almost one year, and nothing has happened.

If you still can't figure out what's wrong with the specs, look closer.

Her World Beauty Awards - Vichy, ZA and Kate reviews

As you might already have known, my Goddess is a total beauty junkie who puts on like at least 8 lotions/creams on her face before she goes to sleep - and hence her 10 minutes ritual every night and morning; and she tries to do up different styles of makeup if the occasion calls for it.

And so today was the annual Her World Beauty Awards. Guess my Goddess is kinda on the right track. She's got 3 of the items that the Editors of Her World voted for!

 CATEGORY:
Oil Control Moisturiser
READERS' CHOICE:
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-free Gel Cream
EDITORS' CHOICE:
Vichy Normaderm Tri-activ Anti imperfection Hydrating Care Day Moisturiser

My Goddess has been using this for a few years already. Not sure if it's cos she's past the puberty age, but her face was visibly less oily - which means less clogged pores!

Next, some thing that she has recommended before.

The Horny Devil's 30th Bird-day

The Horny Devil recently celebrated his 30th birthday. 30 was a big thing to them as it is the big 3-0, whereby you are supposed to hit certain milestones as a full-grown adult already.

The Horny Devil had big expectations for my Goddess, especially after he planned a surprise V-day dinner for her. Furthermore, he has the perception that my Goddess would be so busy with her own things that she would do a lousy celebration for him.

Stress and wanting to do a good and memorable birthday celebration for him, she thought of letting him spend his big day to people who matter to him most - herself (of course!), his family and his friends.

Thanks to their tidy and comprehensive guest list, she got down the numbers of his friends and contacted them. She also went around searching for value-for-money hotels that fulfill the criteria:

1. Doesn't cost a bomb
2. Look luxurious and not cheapskate
3. Have a roof-top dining area that opens to late

Through her research, she realised there are so many cool boutique hotels in Singapore! Maybe they should start doing staycations more often to boost the Singapore economy!

Anyway, here's a recap of what happened over the weekend.

First, my Goddess told the Horny Devil that they are going out for a nice dinner on Sat night to celebrate his birthday.

And so, she borrowed her family's car and went to check in at the hotel first.

My Goddess' Twin Wedding

My Goddess' twin, her best friend since JC days, recently got married last Sunday. It was the very first time that my Goddess and the Horny Devil were invited to and attended a Malay wedding, and was certainly an eye-opener for them. My Goddess was also happy to be around the whole process, as she could truly experience and appreciate the Malay culture and traditions.

My Goddess went as early as 8.30am to her Twin's brother house as the mosque and the CC where she held her wedding was just a stone's throw away. My Goddess' mission then was to double check on the MUA to make sure she does a good and not overly dramatic job. Thankfully the MUA didn't let her Twin down. Imagine previously her Twin was so worried about this bridal shop - that they had majority tacky wedding gowns, they can't use her selected material for the MTM gown, and that they had really thick makeup for other brides.

Here's a summary of the event:

First, the bride and groom meets at the mosque for their solemnisation and prayers. The whole process took about an hour.

The ladies need to be all covered up when in the mosque - hence the head scarf shawl

All covered and ready to enter the mosque!

JPO - Johor Premium Outlet

Before I moved on to something more recent and exciting, let me finish covering the last event that has been in the draft folder for some time - My Goddess and the Horny Devil's JPO outing.
It was the second day of CNY then, and my Goddess was pretty bored with the long holidays since her parents were away and there was no visiting too on the Horny Devil's side of family.

So thinking that most people will be busy visiting instead of going into JB to shop, they decided to make their maiden trip to JPO.

They left their house bright and early in the morning at 7.30am. The road into JB was super clear as planned. The bus reached the checkpoint at 8am - faster than her place to Orchard!

Makeup is an art-gic

Makeup is an art plus magic. The more you practice, the better you get, and the more styles you will experiment. It is magic too because it can hide your flaws and bring out things that you don't have like better complexion, bigger eyes, sharper nose etc. this is why my Goddess likes to doll herself up.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Review

Remember in my last post not too long ago, my Goddess complained that her eyeshadow doesn't stay and she wished for a Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer for her birthday? Knowing that no one would actually get for her, she decided to get one for herself.

And the packaging of the primer has changed - it's no longer the stick tube which other users reviewed that they can't get the last bit of the primer out. It's now in tube form, which means you can squeeze every single drop out now! No more wastage, more value-for-money!

As it is supposedly a magic potion, it comes in a cute potion like tube. Even the packaging is in velvet and royal purple.

Let's hope that it can really work magic too!

New Haircut!

CNY is coming! Since my Goddess had a haircut + colour to mark the start of a new year, how can I lag behind? So for CNY, my Goddess also brought me a GroupOn voucher to do a full service grooming and spa session - shiok!

This was me before the haircut. Shaggy look.

Peacock Eye Makeup

Her World, and many other beauty sites, recently wrote that peacock eye makeup is the hottest beauty look this season (http://www.herworldplus.com/beauty/updates/beauty-updates-peacock-eyes-look-wild).

By peacock makeup, I don't mean this.

Which is damn scary with the little dots.

Earlier this year, my Goddess shared her pre-wedding shoot by Moo Media - a video to capture the story of how the two got together.

Finally I have time today to upload the video. Enjoy~

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012

A new year always brings about a new hope. You may consider this a self-deceit or positivism but many like my Goddess like to make use of this opportunity to make some changes to their lives, be it a new haircut, a new wardrobe, so as to start the new year on a literally fresh note. Whether things will change for the better? Only time will tell.

And me & my Goddess' wishes for the new year? That we can 随心所欲!

Wickedly Awesome Christmas

This year, my Goddess didn't spend Christmas with me in Singapore :C She went ahead to have a good time with the Horny Devil in Malacca to attend his ex-colleague wedding.

Wanting to save her remaining pittance leave days to emergency days, they set off only on Sat morning. This only gave them 1 day and 1 night to spend in Malacca since they had to come back Singapore the next day evening to catch the musical Wicked which she has bought the tickets months ago.

The usual 3-hour journey took them 6 hours altogether, thanks to the unnecessary jam at the Tuas customs and uber slow traffic due to the rain.

Their bus reached the hotel only at 3plus and they only had 3 hours to walk around before the dinner.

How to DIY your own Ombre Glitter Nails

This season is all about glitter and shine! And ombre colours are the in thing too.

Inspired, my Goddess bought a pink glitter polish from The Face Shop. It was selling at an affordable price below $10! Instead of painting the nails as per normal, my Goddess decided to diy the ombre effect. It was quite simply done, though slight messy.

Glitter Ombre Nails

To do this, pick 3 colours that are of the same shade.

First, paint the base coat followed by a light polish colour.

Next, use a sponge and dab the top colour from the middle of the nail to the tip of the nail.

Then use the same method to sponge the third (darkest) colour from the base of the nail to the middle. My Goddess redid step 2 again to emphasize the top colour.

Note: your fingers are going to be really messy and dirty with polish sponged out of the nails. Don't worry, just use a cotton bud and dip it in polish remover. Then remove the excessive polish outside of the nails.

Finally finish off with a top coat. Viola, you are ready to party the night away with a trendy nail design!

Have fun experimenting!

My Life Begins Today

A year is almost gone. It's been a really crazy year for my Goddess with loads of ups and downs - getting hitched, switching jobs - worse than the Battlestar Galatica Cyclon ride! Think the only thing that is keeping her sane now is positivity. And this song by Bruno Mars really helped a lot! She's like listening to it a few time every day now to get her daily dose of positivism to keep on going!

NTU Pre-wedding Shoot

I was looking through my blog analytics when I realised that some of the clickthroughs to this blog came from google search, specifically the keywords "NTU Pre-wedding Shoot". Curious about what results it might bring, I decided to do a search on my own.

Viola, it was so surprising that my Goddess' wedding and MV shoot pictures came out tops, courtesy of my blog!

I wonder how do the pictures get ranked? Is it because I have mentioned the word "NTU" and "Pre-wedding Shoot" countless of times here?

Our Very Own Glee-inspired Dance March In

My Goddess always wanted a different kind and impactful march-in. Initially she wanted to do a cheerleading march-in, so that it will go in line with their cheerleading MV. Unfortunately, the Horny Devil and the brothers and sisters protested to it as they were not cheerleaders by training, so it may make the march in look sloppy since cheerleading is all about sharp movements.

So giving in to both their requests and demands halfway, my Goddess and the Horny Devil decided to do a Glee march-in. So the brothers and sisters took two days to practise - one on their meet-up and briefings, and the other on the actual day.

The brothers and sisters were really spontaneous and I could see that they gave in their best, just for my Goddess and the Horny Devil.

It was such a big hit that night. I was told that there were guests saying how special this wedding dinner was and how much they have enjoyed themselves. There were even people doing the pointing action that my Goddess and the Horny Devil did at the part "I think I want to marry you" in the washroom!
Though all of the brothers and sisters weren't performers except for the first pair of couple, who are professional cheerleaders, they did a wonderful job! Kudos to all~
